Today's Country Tidbits

Congratulations to Tim McGraw, who was named the #1 touring act of 2010 by Billboard Magazine. Not one to rest on his laurels, Tim and the Dancehall Doctors will hit the road with Luke Bryan and The Band Perry for the Emotional Traffic Tour. Tour dates haven't been announced yet, but the ticket sales begin on January 15th. And he starts of 2011 with another big win - the first #1 song of the new year. "Felt Good On My Lips" tops the Billboard country chart this week.

Well, now, that was the shortest engagement ever - Shania Twain and fiance Frederic Thiebaud are now married. They wed on New Year's Day in Puerto Rico with family and friends around them.

This is the year that Toby Keith keeps a promise to his daughter Krystal. When she was younger, she asked her Daddy to help her release her own album. Toby promised he would do that when she graduated from college. She did, and this year he'll "pay up." In 2004, Krystal got to have a little taste of singing success when she and Toby duetted on "Mockingbird" for his greatest hits cd.

The People's Choice Awards are Wednesday night, live from Los Angeles. Country music is well-represented:

The tweet of the day is from Sugarland's Kristian Bush: "Happy New Year everyone. May this year have wonders that make last year jealous. Hope, Love and Peace to you all."
