Today's Country Tidbits

One of Carrie Underwood's tour truck drivers was in a wreck over the weekend, and unfortunately, he didn't live through it. The "Play On" tour stopped in Atlantic City on Friday night, and at around 8am the next morning on I-95 in Connecticut, while heading to the next tour stop, the driver of one of the stage trucks drove the truck off of an embankment, where it flipped and burned. There were no skid marks, so the driver either suffered some sort of debilitating health crisis or fell asleep while driving, and he was killed in the crash. Carrie's show in Connecticut went on Saturday night, and when she got to the part of the show where she performs "Temporary Home," she talked about the incident, saying that the song means so much to her anyway, but meant a little more Saturday night.

Dierks Bentley will take his "Miles & Music for Kids" ride to Seattle this year. The ride and after-concert will benefit the Seattle Children's Hospital and takes place on Saturday, September 18th.

Gary Allan was supposed to have show in Oklahoma City on Saturday night...nope! Snow and ice forced the cancellation and rescheduling of the show to May 27th. Randy Travis also had a show in Oklahoma, and that one had to be canceled, too, because he didn't beat the storm into the state.

Easton Corbin did get to perform over the weekend. He was part of the Saturday night Opry line-up. And a big congrats to him..."A Little More Country Than That" sits at number one on the country chart this week.

Great news for those of us who still like to buy hard-copy cds: the largest music group in the world, UMG, is about to start pricing cds at or below download prices. UMG's roster includes George Strait, Sugarland, Josh Turner, Billy Currington, Shania Twain and tons more big stars.
