Today's Country Tidbits

Congrats to Joe Don Rooney and his wife, Tiffany Fallon, who are expecting their second child. They don't know the baby's sex yet, but will find out as soon as they can. The younger sibling to their 21-month-old son Jagger is due to make his or her arrival in September. "I'll be on tour this September and the Rascal Flatts machine is not stopping for anybody," he says. "But I have to be there. I'll rent a jet or something if I have to!"

Are you a Reba fan? Think she should host Saturday Night Live, especially since they've parodied her on many occasions? There's a special Reba-to-host-Saturday-Night-Live fan page on Facebook, so go become a fan. Hey, it worked for Betty White!

Are you an Alan Jackson fan? Have an iTunes account? You're in luck...as a count down to the release of "Freight Train" on the 30th of this month, there's new Alan Jackson music every day at iTunes. In other AJ news, this could be his last album with Arista records, the only lable he's been on since becoming a country star 20 years ago. He's not sure whether he'll continue with the lable, do something with someone else or go it alone - he says it's time for him to start thinking about that.

Darius Rucker has decided to gather some friends and throw a benefit concert for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The first annual Darius and Friends show will be on June 7th at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville. Tickets for the "smack dab in the middle of the CMA Fest" event go on sale Saturday.

What are we likely to see on the Brooks & Dunn Last Rodeo tour? They hint: “I know that there’s a drum set that showed up at rehearsal the other day. It has a mechanical steer head on it and blows smoke. It’s eyes light up.”

Just in time for the music of spring songbirds, GAC and country stars have teamed up on a fund-raiser to help kids have music in school. It's the 9th Annual W.O. Smith Birdhouse auction, with houses designed by country stars like Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, Craig Morgan and many, many more. Most of the artists are also throwing in things like cd's, concert tickets and meet & greet passes. Bid online until March 23rd.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words...this one of Brad Paisley's boo-boo evokes one word - ouch!

Ever wonder how artists rehearse for their tours? Carrie Underwood rented out the Mobile, AL Civic Center, hauled in equipment on 12 tractor-trailers and spent two weeks working out all the staging. The rehearsal is estimated to have added half a million bucks to the local economy.

Happy birthday Carrie Underwood, who turns 27 today, and kicks off her "Play On" tour tomorrow.
