Today's Country Tidbits

Jason Aldean started dating Jessica when the two were in high school. Jason was 17 and was head over heels for the girl with the wonderful smile. Today is their 10th wedding anniversary, and they'll celebrate with their two daughters, 8-year-old Keeley and Kendyl, who is 4. When asked if they're going for a boy, Jason replies, “You know what? I think every guy would like to have a son. But, to be honest with you man, after my first daughter was born and my wife got pregnant the second time and I actually wanted another girl. So, um…you know, so I’m good. I’m good, we’re…we got two and I got my hands full and it’s over.” Married in 2011, Jessica and Jason kicked around Nashville trying to jump-start his career. Finally in 2005, signed with Broken Bow Records, he released his first single, "Hicktown," and the rest is happy history for the couple.

Miranda Lambert has been having so much fun touring she's just added 20 more shows to her schedule this fall.

While the rest of the world has been taking summer vacations, George Strait has been working on a new album, and the release date has just been announced. September 6th is the drop date for his 39th studio album, "Here for a Good Time."

Congratulations to Eric Church, who tops both the country and top 200 Billboard charts with his new cd, "Chief." First week sales of nearly 145,000 units makes this the second-best selling cd of this year during the first week, behind Brad Paisley's "This is Country Music." Plus Eric moved more release-week digital copies of his album than anyone else in country music this year. In other Eric news, "Homeboy," his current single, has been certified gold.

And congrats to Chris Young, whose "The Man I Want To Be" cd has also just been certified gold.

The tweet of the day is from Jo Dee Messina: "How embarressing. Couldn't even scrounge $1 to buy power ball ticket. It was the winning one, too."
