Today's Country Tidbits

Kenny Chesney's on a roll - "Hemingway's Whiskey" is at the top of the Billboard Country chart and on top of the Billboard Top 200 chart, selling more than 183,000 copies since it's release last week. That's a great accomplishment, but check this out - it's his 10th cd in a row to debut at #1. Now that's success!

We know that when Taylor Swift is up for a music award, she usually wins. What happens when she's in court, suing people? She wins there, too. Last year during the "Fearless" tour, 16 people were found to be selling bogus Taylor Swift merchandise, claiming it was real. They were arrested, their goods confiscated by police and a lawsuit was filed against them all. A federal judge in Nashville ruled in her favor, ordering the people to never engage in selling Taylor Swift merchandise again and ordering the confiscated items to be destroyed.

This years CMA Music Festival raised nearly 3 million dollars in charity funding to support music education in schools and to aid in flood clean-up. Nashville Mayor Karl Dean said, during the check presentations attended by Kix Brooks, Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town and Luke Bryan, "The CMA Music Festival went on as planned just a month after the devastating May flood, and it was the largest, most successful Festival to date. That's a testament to the strength of Music City and the commitment CMA has to Nashville."

The tweet of the day is from Martina McBride: "Ok so today I actually put ON the work-out attire....and that's all. But I'm choosing to see that as a positive step."
