Today's Country Tidbits

Tonight, Sugarland streams their New York show live online. You can find it on the Sugarland Vevo channel on YouTube and also on Sugarland's site. The concert starts at 9 Eastern time. It's happening just before "The Incredible Machine" is released tomorrow. Here's a peek at their work with director Kenny Ortega at rehearsal.

Brad Paisley wowed the crowd last night in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Tickets were available for free for locals and also for anyone booking rooms in the coastal area as a way to help boost the economy. The beach was wall-to-wall people and the night was perfect for a little water fun with Brad and his band. With his songwriting ability, it's not surprising to hear that he'll be writing a book. Entitled "The Diary of a Player," Brad and co-writer David Wild chronicle how guitar masters in country, blues and rock influenced Brad's life. The book is due out in May of 2011.

Kudos to Dierks Bentley, who raised over a quarter of a million dollars yesterday in Nashville with his "Miles & Music for Kids" ride and concert. He says fatherhood has given even more meaning to this event, now in it's 5th year. "Yeah, it definitely does. I mean it has a huge impact on you once you have a kid and we’ve had a healthy kid... a really healthy kid, but this makes you even more appreciative of knowing about the families that don’t and you know, those families don’t need to be worrying about money and financial, you know, debt and all of that stuff, they need to be just concentrating on their kids getting healthy and getting well. I’ve got another kid on the way and I pray it’s healthy too, but knowing that Vanderbilt’s there if there’s ever a problem is a great piece of mind."

Congratulations to Craig Morgan and Carrie Underwood, who both picked up awards at the 16th Annual Inspirational Country Music Award Show in Nashville last week. Craig won Mainstream Country Artist and Mainstream Inspirational Song for "This Ain't Nothin'" and Carrie won Inspirational Video for "Temporary Home."

And even more congratulations to Miranda Lambert...her "Revolution" cd has gone platinum!

For only the second time in the history of the show, Ellen Degeneres will devote the entire hour to one guest, and once again, it's Taylor Swift. The first time it was for the release of "Fearless" in 2008, and this time it's for the release of "Speak Now." On November 1st, Ellen will host a "Speak Now Release Party" on her show.

And Alan Jackson continues to make history in Australia. He's touring there with Miranda Lambert as his opener in March of next year, and tickets for the first 4 shows sold out faster than any other country artist ever has in Australia. So they added another show in Brisbane, which sold out in 23 minutes when those tickets went on sale. No word as to whether more dates will be added, but it looks like demand for them is certainly robust!

Taylor Swift will be in this weekend's "Parade" magazine, and she tells the story of seeing an 11-year-old girl in Nashville, wearing one of her "Fearless" t-shirts. She followed the girl into a video game store and introduced herself. The girl was speechless for 3 minutes, and her Mom burst into tears, telling Taylor that they'd driven from Austin, Texas to Nashville to see the town that discovered Taylor Swift.

Happy birthday to Josh Gracin, who turns 30 today.

Watch the Judds on "On the Record with Greta Van Susteren" on Fox News today.

The tweet of the day is from Brad Paisley: "This was magical tonight. For everyone who reads this, these beaches are clean and beautiful, and open. Come visit the gulf coast. It's ready."
